Please join us in criticizing the Associated Press and the Peterborough Examiner for a one-sided article that reserves its harshest language for Palestinian actions while leaving Israeli atrocities unnamed.

Israel continues to devastate Gaza and kill thousands of Palestinian civilians. Such biased reporting of Israel's Gaza genocide skews the public's perception of reality on the ground and should be challenged. The facts must be presented more clearly.

Tell the Associated Press and the Peterborough Examiner:

  • To include the number of Palestinians killed by Israel during this crisis, which is now estimated at 9,000+ Palestinians killed, including more than 3,700 children.
  • To stop using passive language that absolves Israel of responsibility. The report says “bombings drive hundreds of thousands from their homes” and “Heavy airstrikes demolished apartment buildings” – but Israel is not named as the perpetrator.
  • That future coverage should include quotes and information from credible humanitarian sources, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Palestine Red Crescent Society, or other credible organizations.
  • To stop using "both sides" framing when talking about death tolls, as Palestinian losses are now almost 10x those of Israelis. The article says "casualties on both sides are expected to rise," as if the rise is likely to be symmetrical.

During a week when the director of the UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights, Craig Mokhiber, called Israeli actions in Gaza “textbook genocide,” readers deserved better coverage of apparent Israeli war crimes.
