Please help us challenge the National Post and John Ivison for an opinion article defending and misrepresenting a dehumanizing post made by a marketing professor from the University of Guelph-Humber, Paul Finlayson.
- The headline suggests the professor only said, "I stand with Israel," waiting for nine paragraphs to inform the reader of the actual inflammatory language used in the post. This is highly misleading. The post actually says things like "You stand with Palestine means you stand with Hitler."
- Ivison claims that the post's claims are true, but it is littered with demonstrable falsehoods, including things as obvious as exaggerated death tolls.
- Ivison's post is strewn with anti-Palestinian racism and Islamophobic tropes. The National Post publishing an article defending these abhorrent sentiments crosses the line.
- At a minimum, opinion articles must be based on facts. This op-ed has numerous false claims and fundamentally tries to defend hate speech.
