CBC’s About That segment refuses to call Israel’s actions in Gaza a genocide or acknowledge that Trump’s proposed plans for the remaining survivors in the strip amounts to ethnic cleansing. While the video mentions forced displacement and mass killing, it avoids framing them as part of Israel’s deliberate policy to permanently remove Palestinians from their land.

- The anchor acknowledges mass killing at the 2:45 minute mark and forced displacement at the 5:26 minute mark, he stops short of framing these policies as deliberate actions by the state of Israel and the United States to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from their land.
- The CBC allows Israeli violations of international law to go unchallenged. At 6:28, the host admits that Trump’s proposal of forced displacement is illegal under Article 49 of the Geneva Conventions, yet he fails to apply this principle to Israel’s actions over the past 15 months.
- Israeli war crimes are downplayed, yet similar actions become morally outrageous only when proposed by a U.S. figure like Trump. For example, when Trump suggests long-term U.S. control (occupation) over Gaza, CBC calls it “inexcusable and morally corrupt.” But for over a year, CBC has failed to apply the same moral scrutiny to Israel’s occupation, destruction, and mass killing in Gaza.
- At 4:54, CBC describes the creation of Israel in 1948 as a “war” but completely excludes any mention of the Nakba—the mass expulsion and ethnic cleansing of over 750,000 Palestinians. This deliberate erasure aligns with a broader pattern of anti-Palestinian racism in CBC’s coverage, where Palestinian history and experiences of occupation are systematically erased to reinforce Israel’s narrative.
