Please help us show our appreciation to CBC and Stephen Quinn for a new series, "Voices From the Diaspora," profiling and giving voice to Palestinians and Israelis in Vancouver amidst the events unfolding since October 7. This series was just launched, and as a first episode, it gave voice to a Palestinian restaurant owner, Sobhi Al-Zobaidi. It would be great to send messages of encouragement in that sense.

  • The radio segment gives voice to Sobhi Al-Zobaidi and his thoughts and actions since October 7. He mentions the unfiltered desperation, helplessness, and hopelessness that he has felt since October 7.
  • The radio segment humanizes Palestinians by giving background information about Sobhi Al-Zobaidi’s life in Palestine.
  • The radio segment raises a broader uncommon discussion of the place of culture as a form of resistance in grassroots organizations of Palestinians in the diaspora: food, filmmaking, poetry, and songs. It mentions how it has accelerated since October 7 and how it helps form a sense of community, get involved, and show solidarity with Gaza.
