On August 4, 2026, The Jerusalem Post published a poorly sourced and fundamentally incorrect article, forcing the publication to walk back its original reporting following scrutiny and intervention from CJPME.
The original version (archived here) carelessly conflated the "Arms Embargo Now" coalition's upcoming day of action with another group, Palestine Action Canada, using the confusion to justify including three full paragraphs amplifying calls for the activists to be designated as a terrorist entity.
After CJPME raised the alarm regarding this unethical and inaccurate reporting, The Jerusalem Post gutted the article (current version here). However, in a blatant violation of standard journalistic ethics, the publication quietly pushed these massive alterations without adding an editor's note — amounting to the unethical practice known as stealth editing. The outlet did not respond to CJPME’s request for an editor’s note to be added, nor did it acknowledge our initial complaint in writing.

The headline and opening sentence originally stated that "Palestine Action Canada and the Arms Embargo Now coalition" co-announced the Day of Action. The updated version completely removes Palestine Action from the opening, acknowledging the action is being organized by Arms Embargo Now.

The article removed an inaccurate paragraph that states: “Complementing these digital resources [from Arms Embargo Now], promotional campaigns featuring imagery of raised hands holding a hammer alongside a Palestinian flag have circulated online, bearing the slogan ‘Arms tired from waving flags? In the updated version, the Post quietly trimmed Weinstein's quote to hide the fact that he was explicitly targeting the wrong group. Furthermore, relying on a figure like Weinstein as a credible source in the first place demonstrates a severe lack of editorial judgment.
While CJPME’s Media Accountability Project (MAP) celebrates the successful removal of these dangerous terrorism smears from the body text, this incident represents journalistic malpractice by a foreign media outlet unfairly targeting Canadian activists with damaging lies. Quietly deleting entire paragraphs of false claims, restructuring an article's premise, and altering quotes without issuing a formal correction or editor's note constitute ethical violations of the highest order.
