"CJPME believes — especially given Canada’s position — it is unfair and unbalanced to refer to Israel as a state, but only refer to the Palestinians as a people. It is all the more glaring and awkward in this hyphenated example."

In a September 2025 article by The Maple, CBC said it was “actively reviewing” language guidelines for the word “Palestine” in light of Canada’s recognition announcement.
Was a decision made?
I ask because of an awkward CBC News headline that uses the phrase “Israel-Palestinian protests.”
Why is Israel named as a state, but not Palestine?
CJPME believes — especially given Canada’s position — it is unfair and unbalanced to refer to Israel as a state, but only refer to the Palestinians as a people. It is all the more glaring and awkward in this hyphenated example.
