News segment fails to specify that the west bank is "occupied"

"Your reporting left out the word “occupied” when describing the West Bank. In the interest of accuracy, it is essential that the word occupied always be used when mentioning the West Bank, bearing in mind that more than 3 million Palestinians live under Israeli military rule there."

Dear Ms. Peroff, Mr. Smith, Ms. Oland,

I’m writing to you on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME, https://www.cjpme.org) to express my concern regarding a recently aired news segment.

Your reporting left out the word “occupied” when describing the West Bank. In the interest of accuracy, it is essential that the word occupied always be used when mentioning the West Bank, bearing in mind that more than 3 million Palestinians live under Israeli military rule there.[i]

As such, I insist that you adapt your future reporting to include this essential language when referring to the West Bank.

Secondly, your footage only shows Israelis and, you should be made aware, shows sympathetic footage of extreme right-wing minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who has often incited violence against Palestinians without making any mention to your viewers of his racist, distasteful positions.

Should you wish, you can contact me at 438-380-5410 for more information.

Sincerely,

Mohamed Khalaf

Director of Strategic Operations,

Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East
