Highly misleading front page regarding Gaza-Israel conflict

"Such a misrepresentation violates basic journalistic principles and deserves clarification in a forthcoming print edition of the paper."

Adrienne Batra, Editor in Chief, Toronto Sun

Dear Adrienne Barta,

I’m writing to express alarm about a highly misleading image on the front page of your October 8 print newspaper.

The front page reads, “This is ‘War’: Israeli PM vows ‘revenge’ for Hamas terrorist attack.” An image of an explosion accompanies the headline. Given the headline, readers should assume this image would be of the Hamas “terrorist attack,” but it is actually of an Israeli airstrike on Gaza. The image photo gives a false impression of the ongoing conflict.

Such a misrepresentation violates basic journalistic principles and deserves clarification in a forthcoming print edition of the paper.

The front page is attached for reference.

Sincerely,

Jason Toney
