Re: “Rob Roberts: The smell of horror in Israel's kibbutzim is hardest to forget”

It is concerning that Rob Roberts was invited by the Israeli government to “visit” a kibbutz and to write and publish an article that uncritically parrots Israeli propaganda. Rob Roberts is the editor-in-chief of the National Post and a Professional Director of the National News Council (NNC). The NNC is supposed to make sure that our media respects its obligations of fairness, balance, and accuracy. When readers think there is a violation and that the media needs to be held accountable, they can submit a complaint to the NNC. However, how, as readers, are we supposed to ensure that the media is fair, balanced, and accurate when such an individual is part of directing such an institution? No serious journalist or editor should be taking free trips with advocacy organizations and reporting on what they see uncritically. What does it say about our democracy? The true horror is that the media, which is supposed to be our vanguard of information, is no longer making individuals informed and unbiased.
