I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East to thank you for a recent article titled “Pro-Palestinian Jewish Montrealers speak out against Israel’s actions in Gaza,” published on February 18 by the Montreal Gazette.
Since Oct. 7, popular media has largely stifled perspectives of Jews in support of Palestine’s liberation, and, instead, favored Israeli propaganda that conflates antisemitism with anti-Zionism. This article is incredibly refreshing, for it reveals the deep support that exists for a Free Palestine within the Jewish community and, thus, counteracts the antisemitic trope that all Jews are or should be staunch supporters of Israel.
