Thanks for highlighting the testimonies that refute Israeli military & government claims

"Your article was particularly refreshing because every statement by the IDF was followed or preceded by a Palestinian testimony, which demonstrates proper media skepticism of the official Israeli government line. In many cases, Canadian media fail to question Israeli government/military allegations and explanations, even when there is available solid evidence refuting them."

Dear Sheena Goodyear,

I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East to thank you for a radio segment and article titled “’We don’t know if she’s alive or dead,’ says husband of doctor detained in Gaza hospital,” published on February 20 by CBC News.

In addition to your article being incredibly informative and highlighting Palestinian testimonies, its format was particularly appreciated. Often, statements made by the IDF or the Israeli government, more broadly, are repeated by media outlets in isolation. In other words, readers often interpret these statements as facts because no opposing views are introduced. Your article was particularly refreshing because every statement by the IDF was followed or preceded by a Palestinian testimony, which demonstrates proper media skepticism of the official Israeli government line. In many cases, Canadian media fail to question Israeli government/military allegations and explanations, even when there is available solid evidence refuting them.

Thank you for prioritizing Palestinian perspectives and structuring your article in this format. Please continue to do so.

Sincerely,

Rose Mardikian,

Media Analyst, Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East
