Dear Adam Carter and Nancy Waugh,
I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East to ask to add an essential piece of context regarding your article: “HDSB staffer under investigation after keffiyeh incident,”published on April 29.
While you write that “keffiyehs have become somewhat of a political flashpoint in Ontario in recent weeks” and mention the debates at Queen’s Park and the motions to reverse the ban, you could have mentioned that MPP Sarah Jama was asked to remove her keffiyeh at Queen’s Park and that she defied the order to do it.
Please add this element of context, as it would help describe the extent of the flashpoint the keffiyeh ban has caused in Ontario.
I hope CBC will make this change and consider my suggestion in future reporting of the following developments regarding the keffiyeh ban in Ontario.
Sincerely,
Fatima Haidar
