Thanks for balanced coverage of Canada’s stance on Palestinian statehood

"I see a dearth of solid reportage on Israel and Palestine in Canadian media, and I know that pro-Israel groups such as Honest Reporting Canada attack journalists who report critically or even simply provide accurate information on Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, or on its policies and practices toward Palestinians."

Dear Raffy Boudjikanian and Nancy Waugh,

Thanks for Raffy Boudjikanian’s balanced and informative coverage of the Canadian government’s conversations with allies regarding the recognition of Palestinian statehood. It is what I expect from good journalism and don’t always see.

I appreciate learning that there are no legal impediments to Canadian recognition, that it would be purely a political decision. It is therefore good to hear the positions of the three parties.

I am also happy the article names Independent Jewish Voices, Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East and the Coalition of Canadian Palestinian Organizations as supporting recognition alongside the negative reaction of pro-Israel advocacy groups, among which I include the Conservative Party of Canada. I see a dearth of solid reportage on Israel and Palestine in Canadian media, and I know that pro-Israel groups such as Honest Reporting Canada attack journalists who report critically or even simply provide accurate information on Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, or on its policies and practices toward Palestinians. If this article incurs attention from Honest Reporting Canada, I recommend the Canadian Press Freedom.
