Globe and Mail publishes rare piece from Palestinian journalist

The Globe and Mail is complicit in dehumanizing Palestinians through one-sided, pro-Israel coverage. The Globe and Mail published a piece by Palestinian journalist Hasan Jaber, writing from the Bureij refugee camp in Gaza. While we’ve consistently criticized The Globe and Mail for its one-sided and dehumanizing coverage of Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, this piece stands out as rare—amplifying a Palestinian voice from the heart of Gaza. Help us encourage The Globe and Mail to publish more work like this that raises Palestinian voices and exposes the brutal reality of life under Israeli violence.

  • The piece highlights the daily reality of life in Gaza, where journalist Hasan — like countless other Palestinians—struggle to sleep under the relentless buzzing of Israeli surveillance drones, known locally as the zanana.
  • The piece exposes Israel’s use of starvation as a weapon of war, blocking aid and deliberately depriving Palestinians of food, water, electricity, and fuel. Most media euphemistically speak of “famine” as if it emerged out of nowhere. Hasan makes it clear: the famine in Gaza is the result of Israel’s calculated forced starvation—a war crime under international law.
