Overall, this was a great example of how Canadian media should approach Palestine coverage by presenting expert and contextualized analysis that challenges dominant narratives, illuminates the realities of Palestinians through the use of international law and human rights.
Dear Radio One CBW (Winnipeg, MB) team,On behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME), I wish to thank you for your September 22 interview segment on CBC Radio One Winnipeg regarding Canada’s recognition of Palestine.
The guest professor rightly identified the Netanyahu government as explicitly opposing Palestinian statehood, pursuing annexation, and perpetuating a system of apartheid. It was refreshing to hear this important truth stated so directly, when such framing is frequently avoided in Canadian reporting.
I also appreciate that the interview did not shy away from discussing the Trump administration’s so-called “peace plan” for Gaza, describing it accurately as a call for ethnic cleansing and situating it within the broader pattern of Israeli government policy.
Overall, this was a great example of how Canadian media should approach Palestine coverage by presenting expert and contextualized analysis that challenges dominant narratives, illuminates the realities of Palestinians through the use of international law and human rights.
Thank you again for this thoughtful and principled coverage. I encourage CBC Radio One to continue providing space for more informed perspectives on the subject.
