Heritage Minister Marc Miller is given space to make comments that are irrelevant inthe context of an exhibit about the historical ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in1948. Israel did not yet exist, nor did Hamas. Indeed, it raises the question of why the Canadian Heritage Minister is so invested in rewriting the narrative around Israel’s inception.
To the CTV Newsroom,
I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (www.cjpme.org) regarding your news segment that aired on CTV Winnipeg (CKY) - CTV News Winnipeg on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, 6:20:05 p.m. Central Daylight Time, which presented one-sided coverage of the Nakba exhibit at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
Beyond platforming his overtly Zionist views, the segment fails to include a single Palestinian perspective. In similar coverage, CBC News included the perspective of Fouad Sahyoun who was forcibly displaced from Jaffa with his family in the Nakba, and spoke to the exhibition’s curator.
We encourage CTV Winnipeg to follow CBC’s example by including Palestinians perspectives in its reporting. As it stands, the report is heavily one-sided.
Marc Miller’s personal feelings about Israel should not be the center of a report on an exhibit regarding Palestinian history.
I hope you will consider airing a follow up segment that presents history as it happened, the human impact and how the current genocide is a continuation of the ethnic cleansing campaign that began 78 years ago.
Sincerely,
Nikki Mutch
