There seems to be a set of rules that applies to everyone except the Western dominant powers. This story isn't about a so-called ally threatening NATO. The point is sovereignty, borders and human rights should be respected by everyone, everywhere.
Dead editor,
While I agree with most predictions and strategies put forward by Mr. Hampson, I believe his argument is based on a clear double standard.
Greenland is treated as a red line for Western and Northern security. Yet no such red line exists when Palestinians are subjected to genocide in Gaza, when the West Bank is threatened by annexation through illegal Israeli settlements, or when Venezuela’s head-of-state is captured without adherence to international law.
There seems to be a set of rules that applies to everyone except the Western dominant powers. This story isn't about a so-called ally threatening NATO. The point is sovereignty, borders and human rights should be respected by everyone, everywhere.
If Western powers had integrity and upheld international law instead of their own craven self-interest this thuggery would not thrive. This is where impunity takes us and I agree with Mr. Hampson, Canada is next.
