"You state Huckabee’s comments were taken 'out of context' but this is absolutely untrue. Exactly what 'context' were they taken out of? His comments were clear and unequivocal and represents an established pattern of US foreign policy that shows complete disregard for international law and norms of behaviour."
To the Globe and Mail, Associated Press, Melanie Lidman and Samy Magdy,
I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) about your article “US says ambassador’s comments on Israel and the Middle East were taken out of context” published on February 22, 2026.
I thank you for this article and the information it conveys. The body of report accurately conveys the justified outrage expressed internationally by Huckabee’s arrogant comments. This makes the headline itself all the more misleading.
It says Huckabee’s comments were taken “out of context” but this is absolutely untrue. Exactly what “context” were they taken out of? His comments were clear and unequivocal and represents an established pattern of US foreign policy that shows complete disregard for international law and norms of behaviour.
I would ask that you amend the headline to reflect the content of the article accurately.
The way it reads now one would think that Huckabee has been treated unjustly when in fact it is his comments that are based in a grave injustice.
It should also be made clear in articles like this, that the Bible has no place in matters of national boundaries or legal entitlement to land. In fact the bible has zero status in these matters. Printing these comments without this fact gives them legitimacy which is incredibly dangerous.
Thank you for reading and I hope you will amend the headline ASAP.
