Re: Why is Iran attacking Middle East countries after U.S.-Israel strikes?

While you mention physical damage to infrastructure in the neighbouring states as a result of Iranian missiles and that “ the targeting of civilians…” reaffirms their right to respond to the Iranian attacks, there is no mention of the 787 Iranian citizens who have been killed, with well over 100 young girls in the school hit by an Israeli airstrike.

Dear Mr. Boynton, Mr. Hobson, Ms. Govani and Mr. Browne,

I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) to express concerns regarding the online article, Why is Iran attacking Middle East countries after U.S.-Israel strikes?, that was posted on March 2, 2026.

My key concern with the news report is that it fails to give any acknowledgement that the attack by both Israel and the United States is considered illegal under international law. In fact, you quote the UAE’s defense ministry saying that the UAE considers Iran’s attack on them a “blatant act of aggression and a flagrant violation of national sovereignty and international law”. Yet, your article does not challenge that the US-Israeli strikes were in violation of the UN Charter which prohibits unprovoked attacks against other countries.

Providing context and balance are standards for responsible journalism. The absence of any critical comment on the actions of Israel and the United States that precipitated Iran’s response was not only disappointing but irresponsible reporting.

I hope that you will consider updating the current news report to provide some balance to your news report.

I appreciate your consideration and look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Debbie Hubbard
