Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East believes Prime Minister Mark Carney should categorically rule out Canadian participation in this war. The U.S.–Israel conflict with Iran is deeply unpopular among Canadians, and even Carney stated it violates international law.
Re: The West’s delicate, troubling dance with Trump on Iran
Dear Editor,
The Globe’s editorial line on the war in Iran sends mixed signals. On one hand, you published an editorial dismissing international law as a “nicety” not applicable to Iran. On the other, you run commentary warning that U.S. actions could undermine the global order. Yet the op-ed still assumes that regime change in Iran is necessary, without addressing that external military intervention to overthrow a head of state violates the UN Charter.
Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East believes Prime Minister Mark Carney should categorically rule out Canadian participation in this war. The U.S.–Israel conflict with Iran is deeply unpopular among Canadians, and even Carney stated it violates international law.
Like our fence-sitting Prime Minister, the Globe should take a clearer stance against this unnecessary war before more Iranian civilians are killed.
