Letter to Editor - Brave New World Order

Canadians are in for a big surprise when they learn the extent of Carney’s ambitions. With a slim majority just handed to him by unsuspecting Liberals, he’s now primed to unleash an unfettered attack on our rights and freedoms in pursuit of a new world order where our every thought and action is surveilled and controlled.

Re: “Spanish prime minister shows Carney how to take on Trump”

Dear editor,

With little tangible effort, Prime Minister Mark Carney has managed to convince Liberal voters that he shares their values. One punchy catch phrase and a dash of calculated candor at Davos aimed at the tyrant south of the border has successfully lulled many Canadians back into their false sense of security.

However, as Carney unleashes pro-corporate policies and legislation, moves in lockstep with the U.S. military complex, and Conservative MPs stream across the floor to join his ranks, one has to ask whether his words have been more like a spell of deception.

Contrary to what Linda McQuaid said in her recent opinion piece, I would argue that the world has not changed one bit, only our awareness of the multiple horrors being perpetrated by Western governments across the globe has.

Carney may have wanted to position himself as Captain Canada, but this comic book character can no longer cast a veil over a culture of war, oppression and destruction. We need to stop looking for a saviour in our political class and start holding our governments to account.

Sincerely,

Nikki Mutch
