I am writing to you on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) to express my concern over the Canadian press wire article titled “Poilievre calls for terrorist designation of Iran-backed militant group connected to two attacks in Canada,” published on August 2nd, 2026.The reporting centers a lot of the accusations of alleged Iranian backed terrorist attacks in Toronto to the leader of the Conservative party Pierre Poilievre and the pro-Israel Lobby group CIJA.
However, the article does not inform audiences that Toronto Police have previously stated that several recent shootings targeting Jewish institutions in Canada, including the U.S. consulate were the work of hired criminals, mainly youth just over or under the age of 18.Police Chief Myron Demkiw has publicly stated that the shooters themselves are being paid for these acts and that investigators believe bad actors are using criminal elements in Toronto to carry out these dangerous incidents.
