Thank you for addressing the conflation of antisemitism and anti-Zionism

To Yves Winter, Noah Brender, Danielle Bobker and Michael Blum and the Globe and Mail editors,

I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) about the special: “The antisemitism report that erases a century of Jewish debate” published on August 13, 2026.

First, I would like to thank the authors of the letter for making it very clear for the Globe and Mail reader that the Campus Antisemitism and Student Experiences (CASE) report released by the federal government last week is a propaganda piece based on flawed data gathering. While no amount of antisemitism is ever acceptable, the report was obviously designed with a pre-determined outcome in mind.

The intentional and dangerous conflation of antisemitism and anti-Zionism is the agenda of white nationalists, war profiteers, and anti-Palestinian organizations and it should be concerning to all Canadians that our government continues to push this narrative.

In an environment where we have the former member of the Jewish Defence League, Meir Weinstein, launching a new organization that aims to publicly identify people and businesses it accuses of supporting “terrorist” groups to organize demonstrations outside their residences, our government should not be stoking people’s fears and insecurities.

We appreciate this work very much and encourage the Globe and Mail to continue to share voices and opinions that oppose genocide and Zionism.

Please keep up this much needed work.

Sincerely,

Nikki Mutch
