Please help us challenge the Toronto Sun and Joe Warmington for a troubling article. Toronto Sun describes the piece as a "news" article, as opposed to "opinion," so it must abide by basic journalistic standards.

  • The article falsely accuses pro-Palestine protesters of siding with Hamas. He laments "protesters who side with the evil terrorists." It's not fair, true, or balanced.
  • Warmington suggests pro-Palestine protesters are violent. He writes, "Throw in a potential disruption at a time when Ottawa police just arrested a teen who allegedly had bomb making materials, it could be mayhem – especially when the protesters know they can pretty much say or do anything they want without fear of consequences." This is slanderous and unfair, given that protests have been peaceful in Canada. He even includes a tweet that describes planned protests as an "attack."  Warmington is distracting readers from the real concern of these protests: Israelʼs genocidal actions.
  • Warmington falsely accuses pro-Palestine protesters of be willing to "threaten, vandalize Jewish-owned stores, hit schools and day care centres with bomb scares... and assault Jewish people." There is no evidence of pro-Palestine protesters and activists carrying out many of these actions. It is a fabrication, claiming scattered incidents around Canada as being carried out by some cabal of pro-Palestine supporters. It is outrageous.

It is not the first time that Warmington makes false claims. Earlier this week, CJPME prompted an overhaul of one of his articles that was ridden with lies. Help us keep the pressure on.
