Please help us express appreciation for the Toronto Star and Shree Paradkar for an informative op-ed that highlights medical institutions’ shameful silence on the genocide in Gaza.
- The piece vividly and accurately describes the fatal effects of Israel’s military campaign on the children of Gaza. Paradkar also sheds light on the anti-Palestinian framing Israel uses to justify its genocidal campaign.
- The op-ed highlights the career costs of expressing solidarity with Palestine and calling out Israel for its genocidal behavior. Further, Paradkar includes several testimonies of pediatricians condemning the industry for its overwhelming silence.
- The op-ed calls on medical institutions to not only ask Canada to send humanitarian aid and order a ceasefire but also to address the reasons behind the need for humanitarian aid.
- Paradkar highlights double standards in her article. Medical institutions and specialized societies have made statements denouncing Russia’s actions in Ukraine, as well as providing political and financial support. On the contrary, Israel’s war on Gaza has not garnered nearly the same concern and these medical institutions have instead fixated on Hamas’ attack.
