Continue reading

There are no doubts about it, Israel wants a regional war

"If the U.S. were committed to a ceasefire, they would not make such public statements and actions that indicate, on the opposite, that they are prepared to support Israel in its plans. One should present a more balanced and accurate portrayal of the U.S.’s position as it causes prejudice and demonizes the other parties implicated, such as Iran." Continue reading

Questionable framing of JNF reforestation effort merits clarification by the CBC

"The first sentence about JNF activity is followed by a concessive clause, suggesting that the first sentence is meant to be read as a positive. That JNF built playgrounds and reforested parts of Israel is presented by the journalist as a good thing. Unfortunately, to present JNF's reforestation efforts in a positive light contradicts CBC’s own reporting on the grim truth about Israel’s greenwashing efforts." Continue reading

Will AP ever stop covering up for Israel?

"It would be more appropriate and accurate to refer to the “shadowy military facility” as a detention center or to use its actual name: Sde Teiman detention facility." Continue reading

While exact facts are in dispute, Globe and Mail runs a headline that sloppily assigns responsibility to Hezbollah for a rocket in the Israeli-Occupied Golan Heights that killed 12 children

"Your headline makes it seem like Hezbollah is behind the killing of 12 children in the Occupied Golan Heights when it has denied it is behind the attack as you mentioned in your 9th paragraph. As many experts have already indicated, it would make no sense for Hezbollah to launch an attack on the Golan Heights when it is an occupied Syrian territory by Israel since 1967, and Hezbollah has been an ally of Assad’s Syria." Mr. Blaff is an anti-Palestinian racist

"I understand that you may find Hassan Husseini statements controversial or repugnant, but it is misleading and downright ridiculous to claim he is 'celebrating' the attacks of October 7. Such a claim is plainly your opinion, not an established matter of fact. This misrepresentation is a clear case of injecting your opinion into a news piece, which compromises journalistic integrity." CBC article mischaracterizes ICJ findings

"Contrary to the headline and opening paragraph, the ICJ did not merely find that 'Israeli settlement policies' in Palestinian territories violate international law, but rather that 'the State of Israel’s continued presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory [which includes the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem, not merely settlements] is unlawful.' To frame the article as being specifically about settlement policy, rather than about occupation in a much larger sense, is to fundamentally mischaracterize the nature of this ruling." I didn't know the CBC did PR for a war criminal

"Netanyahu's speech was filled with dehumanizing language, portraying Palestinians as barbarians and the CBC’s broadcast downplayed the explicit racism in his speech to Congress by framing Israel’s actions as part of a larger 'clash of civilizations.' This is also a mischaracterization, as Netanyahu’s exact words were 'This is not a clash of civilizations. It’s a clash between barbarism and civilization.' This arguably worse than what the CBC softened in its broadcast as not only was the term not used, but Netanyahu made a clear statement to dehumanize Palestinians and justify his campaign of carpet-bombing Gaza. This kind of framing covers up his racism and presents a one-sided narrative that fails to acknowledge the complexities and the suffering of the Palestinian people."   Continue reading

CTV News: Specify that the Anti-Defamation League is a pro-Israel organization

"The ADL is not merely a Jewish advocacy organization but one that explicitly supports Israel’s Zionist project. It has a history of labeling Palestinian rights movements as antisemitic, conflating anti-Zionism with antisemitism. Palestinian rights movements are demonstrating against Israel’s settler colonial project in Palestinian territories and its apartheid system, not against Judaism itself." Continue reading

CBC: The term intifada is widely understood to mean a civil uprising and not terror attacks

"While it is true that Intifadas in Palestine have included violent events, they are fundamentally about resisting oppression. The resistance has been mixed, involving both violent and non-violent methods. To frame calls for an intifada as inherently violent is a gross misrepresentation and does a disservice to your readers." Continue reading
