Since May, Israel has been controlling the deadly and chaotic, and highly limited, distribution of food through the so-called US-Israel backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, with the Gaza Ministry of Health reporting that there have been 2,018 fatalities and more than 14,947 injuries between May 27 and August 21, 2025 among people trying to access food supplies. Calling it the “Israel-Hamas war” suggests two equal sides, when in reality Israel is an occupying power with one of the most advanced militaries in the world, and Palestinians are a stateless, besieged population living under apartheid. This framing erases the power imbalance and diminishes the reality of Palestinian suffering under a genocidal campaign. Continue reading

Mr. Mulroney’s overlapping roles — as a paid political event host, a donor and fundraiser for the Conservative Party, an ambassador for a registered lobby group, and an adviser to private companies — constitute clear violations of these standards. His actions create not only a real conflict of interest but also the perception of bias, both of which are grounds for CBSC complaints. If Global proceeds with Mr. Mulroney as host of The West Block, it risks undermining public trust in Global News’ compliance with CBSC codes. Global News should expect formal complaints for breaching standards of fairness, accuracy, and independence if it does not course correct immediately. Continue reading

The so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,” backed by the U.S., operates under the guise of aid distribution but in practice functions as a death trap where Palestinians are faced with live ammunition while seeking food. Palestinians are not merely starving in a vacuum- they are being starved by Israel. This essential context must be included. To add even less weight to Mr. Mulroney’s opinions, he broadcasts a tweet by racist pot cheerleader Marc Emery. See attachments. This is ugly hateful rhetoric that Global is broadcasting.  Can you not find someone more knowledgeable and less racist to give airtime to? Someone who could inform and educate Canadians rather than stir up fear and anger like a schoolyard malcontent with a backwards ball cap. Continue reading

Using the words “retaliatory offensive” is irresponsible and grossly misleading. Killing 65,000 people and starving 2 million is not retaliatory. It is pure genocidal aggression and must be reported as such.  Continue reading

Overall, this was a great example of how Canadian media should approach Palestine coverage by presenting expert and contextualized analysis that challenges dominant narratives, illuminates the realities of Palestinians through the use of international law and human rights. Continue reading

References to Israel’s “divine decree” must therefore be contextualized with a Palestinian perspective: that such claims are used to justify the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and the expansion of illegal Jewish settlements. Continue reading
