Thanks for providing context regarding South Africa‘s case to the ICJ

"Too often, it seems that journalists and Canadian news media steer away from articles that challenge Israel and its brutal and devastating military assault on the people of Gaza. Thank you for providing such an excellent article."

Dear Mr. Corder, Mr. Federman, Ms. Owens, and Mr. Vincent,

I am writing on behalf of CJPME (https://www.cjpme.org/) to express my appreciation for the article South Africa's genocide case against Israel sets up a high-stakes legal battle at the UN's top court, published on Tuesday, January 2, in Toronto Star.

The article was everything that I expect in quality journalism.

The article was balanced since you provided both Israeli and South African perspectives.

More importantly, you provided the context for the South Africa case and factual information about the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The Ukraine, Bosnia, and Rwanda examples demonstrated how those international courts have been used to bring justice for victims of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and war crimes and how parallels can be drawn in the genocide case against Israel.

I believe that the Toronto Star’s decision to publish this article contributes to a more balanced media environment in Canada.

Too often, it seems that journalists and Canadian news media steer away from articles that challenge Israel and its brutal and devastating military assault on the people of Gaza.

Thank you for providing such an excellent article.

I hope Toronto Star and AP will continue to publish such articles.

Sincerely,

Debbie Hubbard
