I cannot understand how or why Rosalie Abella in her op-ed January 9, as well as Marcus Gee in his Globe piece ‘The genocide libel against Israel’ (Jan 5) fail on so many accounts to address the core substance of the South Africa case before the International Court of Justice.
It is not even clear to me whether they have read the 84 pages of documented evidence comprehensively presented.
It is morally chilling to read the more that 17 statements by senior Israeli government and military officials calling for the complete annihilation of Gazans and Palestinians. Netanyahu even invokes the Biblical call to wipe out Palestinians and if they are the Amelikites (1 Samuel 15:1–9).
Yes Hamas, after 75 years of dispossession and occupation, have called for eliminating the US- backed Israeli military power over them. But it is the State of Israel that is using both its military capacity and its political intent intent for genocide as the South African case to the ICJ makes abundantly clear.
