Re: “Canada silent as Hezbollah fires on Israel”

Marceau and Ammar claim that Hezbollah has been attacking Israel non-stop since mid-October while completely failing to mention that its actions are retaliatory responses to Israel’s attacks is hypocritical, to say the least. Israel has been attacking targets in Lebanon for months, before Oct 7, but especially since then. Its actual behavior is not far from its behavior during the July 2006 War, where it dropped over 7,000 bombs in airstrikes on Lebanon for 33 days. Then, a lot of media failed to mention that, during the 17-month period prior, Israel violated the Blue Line 1606 times – more than three times per day, on average. On the other hand, during this same period, Hezbollah violated the Blue Line a total of 9 times. Context is important, then and now. If Israel really wanted to avoid a war, it would have ended its occupation of Palestinian territories long ago.
