Thanks for giving merit to the premise of the case filed by South Africa against Israel

"I particularly appreciated Dr. Nazak Birjandifar’s claim that it would be hypocritical for great powers, like the US and Canada, to ignore if the ICJ rules as genocide. As purported defenders of democracy and human rights, these Western leaders have a duty to take the ICJ ruling incredibly seriously."

Dear Ms. Moharib,

I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East to thank you for your article titled “Ruling on South Africa’s Israel genocide allegations will have significant impact globally: Calgary academic,” published on January 21 by City News.

Since South Africa filed their ICJ case in December, there have been few articles in Canadian media that have thoughtfully outlined the case that Israel’s aggression amounts to genocide. Your article is well-balanced and includes an expert’s testimony, which gives merit to the premise of the case filed by South Africa. I particularly appreciated Dr. Nazak Birjandifar’s claim that it would be hypocritical for great powers, like the US and Canada, to ignore if the ICJ rules as genocide. As purported defenders of democracy and human rights, these Western leaders have a duty to take the ICJ ruling incredibly seriously.

Thank you, Nadia Moharib, for reporting on South Africa’s ICJ case from a different angle that advances the pursuit of justice for Palestine and its people. Please continue to do so.

Sincerely,

Rose Mardikian,

Media Analyst, Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East
