Dear Dan Taylor and Omar Sachedina,
I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East to thank you for a recent news segment titled “’We need a permanent ceasefire’: Aid group,” which was streamed on February 25 on CTV News.
I appreciated Dalia Al Awqati’s detailed account of the conditions created by Israel in Gaza. Although popular Canadian media has vaguely alluded to the rising levels of starvation in Gaza, Dalia Al Awqati provides the full breadth of context needed for an audience to know the full scale of starvation, dehydration, and malnutrition in Gaza, as well as Israel’s unilateral responsibility for these outcomes. As she states in this segment, the government of Israel has controlled and continues to control air, land, and water routes in and around Gaza, so aid not reaching civilians is a war crime only attributable to the state of Israel.
Thank you for giving voice to the Head of Humanitarian Affairs at Save the Children Canada and highlighting the catastrophic scale of starvation and malnutrition in Gaza. Please continue to do so.
Sincerely,

Rose Mardikian,
Media Analyst, Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East
