Feedback on today's article "Rainbows deck Toronto streets for Pride parade"

By not describing it as such, you are presenting it as representative of the Jewish community and their concerns, which is not fair to the Jewish human rights organisations and activists who are against antisemitism but yet critical of the government of Israel and its oppression and occupation of the Palestinian people. Vancouver Sun headline promotes Israeli propaganda

This headline blurs the line between fact and accusation, presenting the Israeli/U.S. claim that Hamas was behind the killing of Palestinian aid workers as if it were an established fact. Continue reading

Headline deserves clarification

The article’s headline is misleading. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification reported that 244,000 Palestinians in Gaza, or 12% of the population, were already facing Phase 5 levels of catastrophic hunger, as observed in April 2025 - May 2025. That is according to the very report you cite. Gaza is not “at critical risk of famine if Israel doesn’t end its blockade,” rather, Gaza already is at risk of famine because of Israel’s blockade. Thank you for including Palestinian perspectives

I want to thank Mr. Sheppard for his piece that humanizes Palestinian perspectives which so often are excluded from the press.  By centering Serena Nicole LeGrow’s reflections as a Canadian and the partner of a Palestinian, the article provides a deeply personal lens on the growing hostility faced by Palestinians and their allies under the current U.S. administration. Recent article on Mohsen Mahdawi’s release uses problematic passive voice

Too often, mainstream coverage relies on passive voice—phrases like “more than 48,000 Palestinians have died in Gaza”—which misleads readers into believing Palestinian deaths occurred in a vacuum. This erasure numbs the public to Israel’s ongoing war crimes and crimes against humanity, reducing Palestinian deaths to mere statistics and shielding Israel from scrutiny and accountability. McMaster University's vandalism story

While I don’t excuse acts of vandalism nor do I want to assume that pro-Palestinian activists were involved, your story excludes Palestinian perspectives and fundamentally misleads readers about the nature of student activism. There is a clear form of suppression of dissent on campus and this omission reflects exclusion of Palestinian narratives and a prejudicial placement of viewpoints. Continue reading

Re: Another side to story of ongoing war

More than 18 months into what organizations like Amnesty International have concluded is a genocide, Walker continues to point the finger at Hamas. This isn’t a compelling argument, but I don’t think Walker particularly cares. Such rhetoric is part of a broader strategy by these partisan groups to keep people distracted from the realities on the ground while Israel continues its onslaught in Gaza and land grabs in the occupied West Bank.  Continue reading

Thanks for balanced article on the Pope's concern about Gaza

It was refreshing to read an article that met these basic journalistic standards, which are too often cast aside when writing about Palestine and Israel. Continue reading
