Thanks for providing a factual and humane account of the genocide in Gaza & Palestinians living in the occupied West Bank

Christine Brousser, Assistant Managing Editor, Globe and Mail

Dear Mr. Vanderklippe, Mr. Walmsley and Ms. Brousser,

I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) to thank you for the article For Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza,Eid brings no prospect of joy under the shadow of war that was published on April 9,2024.

The media typically reports only on the physical costs of the military assault on Gaza. That is, facts related to the number of Palestinians killed or injured and the damage to infrastructure. This is important information for Canadians to know.

However, your article was unique in that it provided a very personal glimpse into the spiritual and emotional costs for individuals and families living in both Gaza and the occupied West Bank. Personally, even in Kelowna, I have watched my Muslim friends struggling through both Ramadan and now Eid al-Fitr, given the horrifying reality of life for Palestinians living in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza.

Please continue to publish articles that provide a factual and humane account of the impact of the military assault in Gaza and the ongoing occupation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Sincerely,

Debbie Hubbard
