Incomplete framing of Lebanon-Israel framework

All of this is important context that readers ought to be aware of to understand the dynamics at play. Otherwise, as it stands, readers are left without the necessary context to fully understand the implications of the agreement on Lebanon’s sovereignty and for the Lebanese people. Feedback on today's article "Orphaned by war in Gaza, Palestinian siblings reunite with their sister in Israel"

"I am requesting that the Toronto Star and the Associated Press add the specific Palestinian death toll to this article, in order to align with the standards of accuracy, fairness and balance set out in the Canadian Association of Journalists ethics guidelines." Continue reading

Omission of perspectives regarding Lebanon-Israel framework

The lack of accountability passage likewise leaves Lebanese political prisoners and the forcibly disappeared in legal limbo as the agreement does not require Israel to disclose their fate nor allow Red Cross visits. Continue reading

Letter of concern for a recent article by Dave Gordon

As an exigent Voice, Dave Gordon is speaking about issues directly related to Exigent’s advocacy and Israel’s interests. This breaks a fundamental journalistic standard of impartiality. Publishing his work as news and without a clear disclosure constitutes a violation of the CAJ's guidelines regarding independence.  Continue reading

On Homonationalism

"Zivo speculates that the strange phenomenon of LGBTQ+ Palestine solidarity must be due to lack of understanding of the developing world by western LGBTQ+ communities. Zivo says that we live in a bubble and can only think in a black and white, oppressor, oppressed framework, where the oppressed are morally righteous, and oppressors totally evil. We therefore can’t understand “moral complexity,” deny Muslim homophobia, and see Israel as evil." Continue reading

Segment Should Raise Skepticism Regarding Israeli Claims (CTV Vancouver Channel Monday, July 20, 2026)

"Kindly keep this feedback in future reporting. 'Israel says X' is not journalism, particularly when the claims are issued by the Israeli military and government, whose Prime Minister and former Defence Minister are currently subject to arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court." Letter of Concern - July 20 segment

This bias is also disrespectful to the loss and agony suffered by the Palestinians in Gaza. Continue reading

Avi Benlolo column

Re: It can be healthy to debate Israel and Palestine but on the ground little will change

Serious debate from both-sides ought to be centered on how we can implement a two-way arms embargo and prevent further bloodshed by ending direct sales, closing these legal loopholes, and cutting ties with the war machine that is Israel’s defense technology. Continue reading

Alarming social media conduct by Global News journalist Joel Gotlib

Joel Gotlib has repeatedly published and shared explicitly pro-Israel content on his social media pages. To be clear, this is not even run-of-the-mill pro-Israel content, much of it contains blatant anti-Palestinian racism. At the end of this letter is an appendix with some posts Gotlib made. In the section at the end of the letter, I do not include countless profoundly anti-Palestinian, racist posts that Gotlib shared from other accounts spreading demonstrably false misinformation, like the “beheaded babies” myth. Gotlib’s posts and re-shares can be seen by Global on his X account and Instagram account. Continue reading
