"Both the journalists and the outlet deserve thanks for this comprehensive and informative news piece." Continue reading

Thank you from CJPME + constructive feedback

Good journalism should strive to present a balanced and contextualized picture of armed groups. This includes not only describing their military actions, but also situating them within their historical context and specifying how they define themselves. In this respect, the article makes a meaningful effort, reflecting strong journalistic standards of fairness and balance. Continue reading

Error in recent op-ed about CBC

I hope this context is helpful in understanding some of the flaws in the argument posed here by Matthew Lau. I am certainly not arguing CBC isn't biased. They are. But it seems to me that they are mostly biased in the exact opposite way that Matthew Lau suggests. I'll save that argument for my own op-ed submission, perhaps! Continue reading

CTV Morning Live Calgary on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 7:20am

"Not only does B’nai Brith unapologetically conflate Israeli criticism with antisemitism they provide very skimpy data to back it up. They are not transparent with their evidence nor their data collection method therefore rendering the “results” suspicious. Their report is not worthy of airtime on a major Canadian news network without even a fundamental level of questioning from the broadcaster conducting the interview. By not doing this you simply provide a platform for B’nai Brith rather than doing the work of journalism." Continue reading

Feedback on Israel’s killing of journalist Ali Shoaib

The Israeli forces have long used the pretext that journalists are affiliated with armed groups to justify their killing. We have seen these unfounded allegations repeated time and time again. In 2025, Israeli officials falsely alleged that martyred journalist Anas al-Sharif was affiliated with Hamas, a claim which was then rejected by Al Jazeera affirming he had no such affiliation.  Continue reading

CTV Morning Live Calgary on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 7:20am

There is nothing inaccurate or hateful in the two images posted above. These are merely Canadian citizens exercising their democratic right to protest crimes against humanity. In the context of the B’nai Brith report where these were published, they act as willfully misleading, defamatory and dehumanizing.   Continue reading

Lack of perspectives on B'nai Brith audit article

"My primary concern is the article’s exclusion of perspectives that are essential for readers to properly assess the report’s claims. Notably absent is any reference to the response from Independent Jewish Voices (IJV), whose critique of the audit has been reporting in the Canadian Press and the Toronto Star." Continue reading

Important inaccurate claim in article regarding Israel's occupation of Gaza

I am urging the Globe and Mail to take heed of the CBC Ombud's review and adopt a similar position and publish a correction. Otherwise, the Globe and Mail is perpetuating inaccurate information that is critically important for readers considering relevant international legal considerations regarding the responsibilities of an occupying power and the rights of occupied people. April 20 Opinion piece by John Bolton

"The US/Israeli insistence that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon is pure hegemonic racism. The only country on the planet that has used nuclear weapons against a defenceless civilian population - twice - is the US. For that country to declare who is allowed and denied nuclear weapons is beyond hypocritical." Continue reading

Feedback on article: "Jewish community top target for reported religion-based hate crimes, Senate committee finds"

"This prioritization of information is dramatically different from the April 21, 2026 Canadian Press article on the same topic, where October 2023 and the broader geopolitical context is mentioned in the fourth and fifth paragraph - of a total of 26 paragraphs." Continue reading
