Context of occupation omitted and inaccurate coverage of Israeli violence
"Palestinian worshippers including men, women, children, and elderly people were peacefully praying when Israeli forces stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque prayer hall and began to assault dozens of worshippers who were beaten with batons and riot guns, stamped on, and arrested. While it is true that some worshippers responded to the invasion in self-defence with rocks and firecrackers, the framing of this as a clash obscures the highly asymmetrical nature of the violence and obscures Israel’s role as the aggressor party. It implies that the nominal act of self-defence by Palestinians is equivalent to the aggressive violence of Israel’s raid on a place of worship."

Poor coverage of Israeli raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque by CBC Morning Live
Significantly, anchor Kris Reyes incorrectly stated that the Israeli raid took place "outside the Al-Aqsa Mosque." The incident occurred inside the mosque. This is a significant error because it affects viewers' understanding of a fundamental aspect of the event. Some of the global outrage is specifically due to the fact that Israeli forces entered the mosque, not just the Al-Aqsa compound.

Strong coverage of the impact of Israel's far-right government on Palestinians by CBC's The National
"The second news segment titled 'Hopes for a Palestinian state further recede under Israel’s new government' offers excellent coverage of the effect of Israel’s far-right policies on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. Your segment also calls attention to the perspective of Palestinians critical of the Palestinian Authority and their collaboration with Israeli forces. This is critical reporting that accurately represents Palestinian voices on the ground.
Thank you for your coverage and I hope that you continue to highlight important Palestinian stories for Canadian audiences."

Important context omitted when referring to the Occupied Palestinian Territories
"By deleting “occupied,” you misrepresent T’ruah’s own self-description, and you exclude context regarding Israel’s 55-year military occupation of Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem."

Omission of Palestinian identity in headline about Israeli violence in occupied West Bank by National Post
"Your article presents several issues that contribute to unfair and unbalanced coverage of the Israeli violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. First, your headline, 'Two dead as violence in Jerusalem, West Bank simmers' should include the word Palestinian in it. Seeing as two Palestinians were killed it must be made clear in the headline."

Problematic framing of Palestinian communities and their legitimate grievances
"Israel’s preferred use of the politicized term “Arab” (or “Israeli Arab”) – which your article parrots – is intended to downplay the “Palestinian” identity of the vast majority of the members of this group. It also intentionally downplays the Palestinians’ connection with their land, suggesting that they are indistinguishable from Arabs elsewhere in the Middle East and North Africa."

Missing context regarding international consensus of Israeli apartheid
"B’Tselem, Israel's largest human rights organization, also issued a report in 2021 that positioned Israel as an apartheid state. The list of international organizations and figures who have expressed concern for Israeli apartheid is long and encompasses all the major international and Israeli human rights organizations."

Re: “How Israeli food became a dynamic cultural export”
"In short, Brehaut’s article 'foodwashes' Israel’s crimes against humanity. Just as Israel is increasing illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, displacing thousands of Palestinian families from their ancestral homes, it is erasing Palestinian heritage and culture by appropriating indigenous Palestinian food."

Re: “Martin Regg Cohn: Israel's elected leader is a threat to its democracy”
"Netanyahu’s judicial coup is certainly alarming, but it is not a radical departure from Israel’s foundational principles which always privileged the rights of one group over another."

Problematic and inaccurate use of "Palestinian Israelis" in Toronto Star article
"It is deeply problematic and inaccurate to refer to Palestinian citizens of Israel as 'Palestinian Israelis,' a label they simply reject. In your headline, you employ the term 'Israel’s Palestinians,' and in the second paragraph, 'Palestinian citizens of Israel,' both deemed acceptable by the Arab and Middle Eastern Journalists Association (AMEJA) and the International Press Institute (IPI) as they emphasize the population’s Palestinian Identity. Yet, you adopt the term 'Palestinian Israelis' throughout the article, a label which wrongfully imposes the 'Israeli' identity on the country’s Palestinian citizens."
