Missing photographs and reductive descriptions of Gazan groups in Saltwire article
"The descriptions of both Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) are too limited. Rather than relying on catch-all terms like “Islamist” or simply “Iranian-backed,” we encourage journalists to transparently cite the stated aims of these groups."

Thanks for providing a Palestinian aspect to the United States' decision to rejoin UNESCO
"First, I appreciate that your article framed the United States’ decision to rejoin UNESCO around Palestine’s contested membership status in the organization. The article provided important context about why the United States withdrew its funding in lieu of recognizing Palestine as a member."

Thanks for including important context and sources about Canada's arms exports to Saudi Arabia

Thanks for shedding light on the impact that Mohammad Tamimi’s killing had on the Palestinian community
"Palestinian children and their families have been living under Israeli military occupation since June 1967 with no end in sight. Under international law, intentional lethal force is only justified in circumstances where a direct threat to life or of serious injury is present. Investigations and evidence collected by Defense for Children International: Palestine (DCIP) suggest that the use of lethal force against Palestinian children is becoming the norm. 27 Palestinian children have been killed in 2023 by Israeli military."

Failure to specify Morocco's occupation of Western Sahara
"The article inadequately describes Morocco’s control over Western Sahara as “disputed,” but should be appropriately described in terms of an occupation. Western Sahara has been on the United Nations list of Non-Self-Governing Territories since 1963, when it was known as Spanish Sahara. Morocco occupied Western Sahara in 1975/76, even as the International Court of Justice rejected Morocco’s territorial claims over the territory."

Misleading headline and failure to include Palestinian perspectives on Israeli military raid in Ramallah
"The article, which relies mostly on information sourced from the Israeli military, fails to mention that the Israeli military fired live bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas, at Palestinian residents protesting the raid and demolition, wounding at least 35, including 20 who suffered from gunshot wounds. According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, Israeli forces also deliberately injured two Palestinian journalists, Rabee Munir and Momen Samreen, who suffered serious wounds to the head and abdomen. The article also fails to specify that the demolition of Islam Faroukh’s house displaced his parents and four sisters – exemplifying the real brutality and damage by Israeli forces that are absent from Israeli military sources."

Failure to contextualize the Nakba and reasons that forced Palestinians to flee their homes
"For Palestinians, the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 constituted a Nakba or ‘catastrophe,’ where families were forcibly expelled from their homes to make way for Jewish immigrants coming from Europe and the Middle East and North Africa. The massacres of Palestinian villages by Zionist militias, the most well-known being the Deir Yassin, is what drove Palestinians to flee."

Lack of context regarding Israeli military raid that resulted in the death of a Palestinian toddler
"According to Middle East Monitor, Naji Tamimi, the head of the Nabi Saleh Village Council, said that Israeli forces “locked the iron gate at the village entrance and proceeded to invade several neighbourhoods and fire live rounds at protesters.” In fact, in 2023, the occupied West Bank has become a target for the Israeli military, who have repeatedly conducted military raids into various neighbourhoods and towns. These operations often wound or kill civilians, including Palestinian children and the elderly and result in the destruction of homes."

Omission of Palestinian sources from article about Israeli military raid in the occupied West Bank
"I urge the AP to be far more skeptical of Israeli military sources when it reports on developments related to Israel-Palestine. The Washington Post’s recent analysis of the March 16 raid in Jenin which led to the murder of 14-year-old Omar Awadin provides a case study in how Israeli military sources can provide highly misleading accounts of the actions of their forces. So much about the current story makes the Israeli account extremely suspect, and results in the AP article likely serving as a whitewash of the actual events."
