Formal Complaint concerning public posts made by Neil Herland

"In his thread, Herland said he was going to see a 'guest speaker at the Toronto synagogue tonight,' and said the speaker 'was an Australian-born university teacher who lives in Israel and once served as Israeli ambassador to the UK.' He noted that the speaker's 'speech was about making peace in the Middle East.' The truth is that Herland was on his way to the Meridian Arts Centre, which is visible in the video he shared, to see Mark Regev. Regev was not merely an Israeli ambassador, he also served in multiple high-ranking positions in the Israeli government, including as the Prime Minister's Senior Advisor for Foreign Affairs and International Communications and the International Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office."

Continue reading

Another article denying the Nakba and trying to shut down the Nakba exhibit

Inaccurate reporting regarding CASE report

This comment is completely misleading as 80% of the CASE respondents were from Ontario and Quebec, therefore not nationally representative. The CASE report clearly states that, because of their methodology, the results cannot be interpreted as precise population estimates. Continue reading

Thank you for reporting on Israel’s tactics of intimidation and terror

I especially appreciate that the segment mentions the cultural and historical importance of the olive harvest, noting that it is the primary source of income for Palestinians.   Continue reading

Thanks for giving space for pro-Palestine perspectives

Please continue to amplify Palestinian voices in the future by giving space for Palestinians and pro-Palestinian voices, including artists like the one interviewed in this segment, who are using their platform and music to take principled stances and stand on the right side of justice.  Continue reading

Your piece on NAZA

It is disappointing, however, that you chose to run a piece consisting almost entirely of voices that dismiss the film outright, especially given the total lack of substance behind them. The article’s observation that “[w]hile many of the people CBC spoke with were furious about the film, no one had seen it” says it all as to how seriously these people should be taken and yet the CBC gives them virtually the entire focus. Continue reading

Headline lacking context and accuracy

The Associate Press has a responsibility to provide accurate, rigorous, contextual, and impartial journalism. This article headline falls short of that standard. I urge you to amend the title to include context around why the building was unstable and naming Israel explicitly as the perpetrator. Continue reading

Concerns regarding the AP article about the Hormuz ship bombing

"We insist on your reporting being impartial and precise, which is crucial for journalistic work. Having a framing that runs on "Israel says" and "Hamas run" is unfair reporting, especially in the context of a genocidal war in Gaza, where an actor has considerable military and media leverage in its favor on the other."
