CBC's self-censorship: Hannibal Directive on Oct. 7 and Palestinian death toll likely exceeds 186,000
"After Haaretz released its damning report that the Israeli military ordered the Hannibal Directive on October 7, I anticipated, to a certain extent, that popular Canadian media would conveniently ignore these findings. I am not surprised that CBC News has fallen into the disappointing and deep pool of Canadian media outlets engaging in this case of deliberate self-censorship."

AP Article On The Globe and Mail Website That Fails to Meet Journalistic Standards
"I was disappointed with the AP article “Air strike kills 25 in southern Gaza as Israeli assault on Gaza City shuts down medical facilities” published on the Globe and Mail’s website on July 9, 2024. This article failed to meet basic journalism standards. Errors in content or context mislead the readers and the AP article had two errors in word selection: one of omission and the other of addition."

27 hospitals have been attacked by Israel, not nine
"As of February 2024, Israel's military had conducted over 350 attacks on healthcare facilities throughout the Gaza Strip. These attacks damaged 27 of 36 hospitals in the strip, thus deeming the claim that "eight hospitals" have been attacked outdated and factually inaccurate."

CBC Article about discrimination doesn't mention anti-Palestinian Racism
"I take issue with your claim that "Israeli forces advanced deeper into the Gaza Strip's largest city in pursuit of militants who had regrouped there, sending thousands of Palestinians fleeing on Monday from an area ravaged in the early weeks of the nine-month-long war." Your framing essentially justifies Israel's ground offensive as "pursuing militants" and fails to raise any skepticism or critical analysis of whether this statement by the Israeli military is factual. Palestinians are not “fleeing” because of militants; they are forcibly displaced because of Israel’s genocidal actions against Palestinians in Gaza. Israel’s direct actions have caused the mass displacement of Palestinians in the strip. It is crucial to include this context to inform the audience accurately."
The Globe and Mail and Reuters blindly quote the IDF
"While I appreciated Ms. Farouk’s attempts at humanizing Palestinian women victims of the Israeli siege on Gaza, some of her reporting decontextualized important elements of the story by quoting the one-sided views of the Israeli state and its military without skepticism."

CBC Article about discrimination doesn't mention anti-Palestinian Racism
"I take issue with your use of passive language and vague terms such as “war” instead of explicitly stating that Palestinians have been forcibly expelled in an asymmetrical conflict. Your claim that the ‘war’ has "largely cut off the flow of food, medicine and basic goods to Gaza, and people there are now totally dependent on aid" is wrong. It's not the ‘war’, but Israel’s deliberate systematic assault on Gaza’s infrastructure. Palestinians in Gaza are ‘cut off’ from basic goods because Israel is deliberately imposing a blockade."

Israel is waging a war on "Palestine", not "Hamas"
"Referring to Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza as the “Israel-Hamas war” is problematic for several reasons. The Palestinian death toll is nearing more than 38,000 with the majority of those killed being women, children, and elderly folks. Furthermore, the Lancet medical journal recently reported that it is “not implausible” for the Gaza death toll to have reached 186,000, surpassing the official figures reported by Gaza's health ministry, which stand at 38,153. The Lancet noted that the lower figure failed to account for those buried under rubble and the "indirect" deaths resulting from Israel’s deliberate dismantling of Gaza’s infrastructure. The term “Israel’s war on Hamas” is therefore rendered obsolete."

Re: "Read the ruling any way you want, we’ve allowed antisemitism to be normalized"
"Rosie Dimanno’s endorsement of the IHRA definition of antisemitism, without acknowledging its controversial nature, dangerously encourages the idea that criticism of Israel is equivalent to antisemitism. This is an approach that has been used by many to shut down conversations about Palestinians and their suffering – perpetuating anti-Palestinian racism."

Israel did not stop occupying the Gaza Strip after 2005
"Firstly, the term "Gazans" tends to erase Palestine as a place and Palestinians as a people. I would, instead, opt to title your headline "Why it's so hard to get humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.""
