Recent article conflates antisemitism with anti-zionism

"The dinner you reported about featured a conversation with actress Mayim Bialik who identifies as a Zionist – a supporter of the Israeli colonial project to establish a Jewish national home by ethnically cleansing Palestinians from their homeland. The demonstrators were protesting against funding Israel’s colonial project, making this incident a case of anti-zionism, not antisemitism. Conflating anti-zionism with antisemitism is misleading and does not accurately represent the motivations behind such protests." Article whitewashes Israel's war crimes

"This paragraph not only glosses over the details of the Tal Al-Sultan massacre that you don't even name, but downplays the brutality of what Israel did and its responsibility: Tents were on fire, Palestinians were burned alive, burned, pulled and beheaded bodies were found, 45 Palestinians were killed, mostly women and children, including a headless child (Ahmad Al-Najar), and 249 Palestinians were injured." Article whitewashes Israel's war crimes

"All over the world, people were outraged by the horrific images of this massacre, notably the image of the headless child being held up, that circulated on social media, considering that a couple of months back Israel falsely claimed that Hamas beheaded 40 babies, which, on the contrary, sparked global outrage." One-sided article about the petition to ban the sale of nickel to Israel

"For decades, Palestinians have been under violent occupation, dispossession, and ethnic cleansing by Zionist militias, starting with the Nakba where more than 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly expelled from their lands. I have serious concerns with The Sudbury Star disregarding the Palestinian narrative and only beginning the timeline from October 7th." Teotonio's article on TDSB vote failed her readers

"The job of a journalist is not just to quote what people say, but to evaluate what they say in light of objective truth. In this case, Teotonio needed to grapple with the question, “Does raising concerns about one type of discrimination automatically create another type of discrimination.”  Or more specifically in this case, is there anything in the concern about APR which is justified?  Teotonio failed in her obligation to readers." Pro-Palestine and Muslim perspectives buried till the end of the article

"There is nothing “violent” in this peaceful ritual. CBC’s choice to (i) open the article with Levant’s quote, “they're worried about violence and they have every right to be” and (ii) give undue prominence in the entire first half of the article to the owner of Rebel News Network despite his involvement in this Islamophobic and anti-Palestinian incident AND without adding a Muslim or Palestinian perspective perpetuates misconceptions about Islam and unfairly associates peaceful religious acts with unwarranted fear." You can't interview a "survey" National Post

"The headline claims a "huge majority" of York parents fear for Jewish children's safety based on an informal and non-scientific survey. Using such a survey as a credible source goes against journalistic standards. The survey, written by Sharon Aschaiek, only surveyed 193 families. It's irresponsible not to mention in the headline how unscientific this "survey" is. This survey does not represent the broader population and should not be the basis for sweeping claims." Concerns Regarding Inappropriate Framing of Islamophobic and Anti-Palestinian Racism Incident

"It is unfortunate that an article dedicated to reporting on a case of Islamophobia diverts attention to antisemitism, which already receives extensive coverage. This double standard in media reporting fails to give justice to the severity of the Islamophobic incident and dilutes the necessary discourse around the discrimination and challenges faced by the Muslim community in Canada." Erroneous headline and other issues in recent article

"The report does not discuss the rise in any specific form of hate. Rather, it states, “Incidents related to hate and racism have seen a significant rise globally and nationally.” This statement does not exclude antisemitism, it merely groups it with other forms of hate. No specific statistics are cited in reference to any form of hate, nor is any other form given special attention in the report." Continue reading

Disputing Vivian Bercovici's apology for genocide

"I don’t doubt that she could find an Israeli government source, or a dubious right-wing source for much of her drivel, but I’m surprised the National Post (NP) is so starved for pro-Israel content that they will print Ms. Bercovici’s unabashed pro-apartheid bunk." Continue reading
