Failure to mention context of occupation in CTV News article about Israeli raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque
The status of East Jerusalem as occupied Palestinian territory is not an opinion but a settled consensus at the international level, as confirmed by the United Nations Security Council and other international legal bodies. It is also the long-standing position of the Canadian government.

Context of occupation omitted from coverage of Israeli raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque
By omitting the fact that Al-Aqsa Mosque is in occupied territory, you exclude important context regarding the dynamic between Palestinians and Israeli forces. The context of occupation, including the oppression of Palestinians and discriminatory Israeli policies, explains the high levels of tension and violence that can take place in this location. Excluding the fact that East Jerusalem is occupied misinforms readers, who may be led to believe that Al-Aqsa Mosque is located in Israel. This can be particularly confusing as your article discusses the actions of “Israeli police.”

Israeli Apartheid Week events highlighted by McGill Daily
Your article highlights a series of events as part of Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) in Montreal. The article also reports on the rally organized by Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR) at McGill and calls attention to McGill’s partnerships with Israeli institutions complicit in the occupation of Palestine. It is also crucial for McGill students to know about the $29 million donation by notorious anti-Palestinian Zionist billionaire Sylvan Adams to build the Sylvan Adams Sports Science Institute (SASSI) in partnership with Tel Aviv University.

Eyewitnesses omitted from coverage by Digital Journal
While it is important that the Israeli police account is qualified as an allegation, it is inadequate to only note that “His family disputed this version of events,” given those eyewitnesses also dispute the claims, as reported by Haaretz.

Passive and misleading headline in CTV News article on Israeli raid of Al-Aqsa Mosque
Your headline, “Violence at holy Jerusalem site raises tensions over holidays” uses extremely passive language. It is important to make clear the perpetrators and the victims of this “violence.” In this case, Israeli forces stormed the Al-Aqsa mosque (perpetrators) and beat Palestinian civilian worshippers (victims).

Misleading description of occupied Jerusalem in Toronto Star article
In your description of the events, you fail to mention that Jerusalem’s Old City is in East Jerusalem, considered occupied Palestinian territory under international law. This is not an opinion but a settled consensus at the international level, as confirmed by the United Nations Security Council and other legal bodies. It is also the long-standing position of the Canadian government. By omitting this critical context, your article obfuscates the reality of the military occupation under which Palestinian residents of Jerusalem live.

Letter of thanks regarding radio segment that includes Palestinian perspective
Thank you for your fair and credible reporting, and for rightfully including the ‘Palestinian issue’ as a major aspect of the story. I also appreciate your analysis of the creation of Ben-Gvir’s ‘national guard’ as an element of Netanyahu’s decision to ‘pause’ his legislative agenda, and your inclusion of the perspective of the (small) anti-occupation bloc within the protests. I also thought that you accurately represented the perspective of most Palestinians on the “pro-democracy” protests, in a way that is consistent with what my organization has been hearing.

Thanks for providing a Palestinian perspective on Israel's judicial overhaul and political turmoil
While I applaud Ms. Stein’s efforts to discuss how Israel’s political crisis impacts Palestinians, it just goes to show the importance of featuring Palestinian voices in these discussions. TVOntario's viewers will benefit tremendously from hearing directly from Palestinians about how these reforms are affecting them, both inside and outside of Israel's existing borders. I would be happy to help connect you with relevant guests in the future.

Re: "Israel has legitimacy"
It was quite ironic that in his April 1 letter entitled “Israel has legitimacy,” Gary Gerofsky was unable to bring himself to actually write the word “Palestine” or “Palestinian.” Rather than referring to “Palestine,” he could only write, “another Arab state.” And rather than referring to the “Palestinian Authority,” he could only write “PA.” Seems like somebody has a problem attributing legitimacy to the Palestinians.

Omission of Palestinian casualty in Huwara and failure to include Palestinian perspectives
I am disappointed that your article failed to consult or quote a single Palestinian. A Palestinian perspective could have provided insight into the typical inequity in justice in the West Bank. This is disappointing failure to provide diverse viewpoints – a serious journalistic issue.
